Scotland Health Honors Emergency Department Nurse Logan Stamey with DAISY Award

Scotland Health is proud to announce that Logan Stamey, a nurse in the Scotland Memorial Hospital Emergency Center, has been named the organization’s most recent recipient of the prestigious DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.

The DAISY Award is a national recognition program that celebrates nurses who provide exceptional clinical care combined with extraordinary compassion. Through patient and family nominations, the award honors nurses who go above and beyond to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those they serve.

Stamey was presented with the award by Scotland Health leadership on Friday morning in front of his Emergency Center teammates, recognizing the impact of his care during a difficult time for a local family.

The nomination highlighted Stamey’s unwavering compassion and ability to bring comfort during a life-changing medical moment:

“I am writing to nominate Logan Stamey for the DAISY Award to recognize the extraordinary, heartfelt care he provided to my father and our family during one of the worst days of my life.

On April 25th, I brought my father into the Scotland Memorial Emergency Room. Our world was turned upside down when the doctors discovered a mass on his pancreas. In that moment of absolute shock and fear, Logan became our anchor. He treated us with a level of kindness and love that went far beyond his clinical duties. He took the time to explain every procedure, test, and update in simple terms that we could easily understand, which brought an immense amount of comfort and peace to my daddy.

What I will remember forever happened when I walked back into my father's ER room. Logan was sitting right on the edge of the hospital bed, and he and my father were happily singing 90s country music together. In the middle of a devastating diagnosis, Logan brought a moment of pure joy, normalcy, and human connection into that room.

The kind of care Logan provided during this incredibly difficult time is not something you can learn in nursing school—it’s care that comes straight from the heart. I am forever grateful.”

The DAISY Award is presented quarterly at Scotland Health to honor nurses whose dedication leaves a lasting impact on patients, families, and colleagues.
