CFO Flicek

Scotland Health is pleased to announce the appointment of Greg Flicek, CPA, MBA, as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), bringing deep expertise in healthcare finance, strategy, and operational leadership to the executive team.

Flicek joins Scotland Health with a diverse background spanning public accounting, health system finance, physician practice operations, healthcare consulting, and academic instruction. He has spent his career partnering with hospitals and health systems to support financial sustainability, long-term strategy, and data driven decision-making—particularly within rural and community health systems.

Most recently, Flicek founded the Healthcare Finance Center, where he developed advanced benchmarking and analytics platforms. These tools allowed healthcare leaders to evaluate financial performance through true “apples-to-apples” peer comparisons across size, geography, and service mix, while tracking multi-year and quarterly trends.

Prior to that, Flicek served as Senior Manager at Ascendient Healthcare Advisors, leading and supporting engagements in hospital strategy, rural sustainability, mergers and acquisitions, and North Carolina certificate of need (CON) projects. His work included financial modeling, market analysis, pro forma development, and serving as an expert witness in healthcare planning and finance.

Earlier in his career, Flicek spent several years at WakeMed Health & Hospitals, where he supported the physician network in a core finance role before transitioning into operations as a pediatric practice manager overseeing eight practices. In that role, he helped improve the sustainability of a safety‑net clinic model, strengthened staff morale and patient throughput, and supported the launch of a new clinic from planning through opening—experience that grounded his financial leadership in real‑world operations.

Flicek has also served as a Lecturer of Business at Meredith College, teaching undergraduate and MBA level courses in business strategy and accounting .

“Greg brings an exceptional blend of financial expertise, operational insight, and strategic perspective,” said David Pope, President and Chief Executive Officer of Scotland Health. “His experience working alongside executive teams and boards, combined with his understanding of the unique challenges facing rural healthcare organizations, positions him well to help guide Scotland Health through its next phase of growth and innovation.”

In his role as CFO, Flicek will oversee financial operations, strategic financial planning, and reporting for Scotland Health, with a focus on maintaining strong fiscal performance while supporting the organization’s mission to deliver high‑quality, compassionate care close to home.

Flicek holds a Master of Business Administration from Meredith College, a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire, and is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in North Carolina.  Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, running, reading, and watching Survivor.
