Hospice of Scotland County is proud to announce two upcoming open house events in celebration of its 40th Anniversary and in recognition of National Hospice Month
The first event will take place at the Bennettsville location (1007 Cheraw Hwy) on Thursday, October 30, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The second will be held at the Laurinburg office (610 Lauchwood Drive) on Tuesday, November 4, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
Both events will feature refreshments, guided tours, commemorative gifts, and special recognitions, including mayoral proclamation signings honoring National Hospice Month. The Laurinburg open house will also include a tribute to National Native American Heritage Month, with members of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina providing music for the evening.
“For 40 years, Hospice of Scotland County has stood as a beacon of comfort and dignity for families facing life’s most difficult moments,” said Missy Smith, Administrator of Hospice of Scotland County. “These open house events are not only a celebration of our legacy, but a heartfelt thank you to the communities that have supported us every step of the way.”
Founded in 1985, Hospice of Scotland County has remained committed to providing exceptional, compassionate end-of-life care across a seven-county region that includes Scotland, Robeson, Hoke, Richmond, Marlboro, Chesterfield, and Dillon Counties. Services are delivered by a dedicated team of professionals and volunteers—including physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and bereavement counselors—who tailor care to meet the unique needs of each patient and family.
“Hospice care is about living fully and comfortably, even in the final stages of life,” added Smith. “We are honored to walk alongside our patients and their families, offering support, dignity, and peace.”
Hospice of Scotland County recently reaffirmed its commitment to excellence by earning DEEMED status accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC), effective through August 2028. First accredited in 2004, the organization has maintained continuous accreditation for over two decades—one of the longest-running records in the region.
“Our accreditation is a reflection of the high standards we uphold and the trust our community places in us,” said Smith. “As we celebrate 40 years, we look forward to continuing our mission with the same compassion and integrity that has defined us since day one.”
