Laurinburg, N.C. -- June is Men’s Health Month. Scotland Memorial Foundation is providing a free event for men that will include food, games, giveaways, and free health screenings. The highlight of the evening is guest speaker, Dr. Aaron Locklear, physician at Pembroke Family Practice and Urgent Care. The annual Men’s Health Event, a free event which includes health screenings and an evening with health care professionals on Thursday, June 22nd.

"We are excited to have Dr. Locklear to talk to the participants about health issues, diseases, screenings and maintaining good health," stated Misty McMillan, Executive Director of Scotland Memorial Foundation. "The men always enjoy the opportunity to have a night out to learn, relax and just have a good time.”  

Prior to attendees enjoying a delicious and healthy dinner cook-out style, hospital exhibitors and community partners will be on hand to provide information about health-related services. Tours of the new Pembroke Rescue Squad building will also be available. Following dinner and presentation by Dr. Locklear, the men will have an opportunity to ask their own questions about men’s health issues.

The free screenings provided are height, weight, body fat, BMI, and blood pressure checks. There will also be a PSA for the men over 60 years old to screen for prostate cancer.

The event will take place at Pembroke Rescue Squad building located at 564 Candy Park Road in Pembroke from 5 pm – 8 pm. Registration is required, and space is limited. Interested participants may call 910-291-7551 to register.
