Scotland Health Names Marilyn Bridges Newest Sunshine Award Winner

On Thursday morning, Marilyn Bridges was awarded the Sunshine Award in front of her peers. She was awarded with a certificate and cupcakes to share with her teammates. The Sunshine Award is Scotland Health’s Award for Extraordinary Nursing support team members, including Patient Care Techs (PCT), Surgical Techs, ER Techs (ERT), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Medical Assistants (Certified & Registered) and Unit Secretaries. This award was achieved by a recommendation from Nursing Staff led by Latoscha Campbell who wanted to recognize the hard work of Scotland’s nursing support staff.

The Sunshine Award nominees exemplify Scotland Health’s excellent patient experience. In addition to naming a Sunshine Award honoree, each nominee receives special acknowledgment from Scotland Health as our way of saying “thank you” to the unsung heroes in the healthcare profession. Each honoree will be recognized at a public ceremony in his/her unit and will receive a Sunshine Award plaque and commemorative certificate.

Marilyn’s nomination letter read: “We have had patients who came back from surgery with nausea/vomiting. Marilyn is quick to react, getting emesis basin, quease ease and wash cloths to help. She never says, “that’s not my job” or “let me get your nurse.” She will inform the nurse but always tries to help and goes above and beyond in everything she does. She is a ray of sunshine on the unit and is eager to work, always volunteering to assist in any way possible, Marilyn works from the time she clocks in until she clocks out. With idle time she finds something to do on the unit. I don’t know what we would do without her.”
