Depending on your insurance company you may need to check with your primary care provider before making an appointment. Please make sure if your insurance requires a referral you bring it with you the day of your appointment.

If you believe you are in a life-threatening situation, CALL 911!

Established and new patients should arrive 15-20 minutes before your scheduled appointment in order to complete necessary forms. Please bring to your appointment:

  • Any medications you are taking in their original prescription bottles.
  • Immunization records and a copy of previous records if you are transferring to us from another office.
  • Your insurance card
  • Copayment or any deductible amounts due (all insurance copayments and deductibles are due at the time of service).
  • A friend or family member to assist you into or out of our office should you require that type of assistance.

Prescription Refills

If you need a new prescription, or refills added to a current prescription, please inform your doctor during your regular appointment. All prescription requests are handled during normal office hours. No prescription requests are handled after hours or on weekends. If you need a prescription refill between appointments, call your pharmacy and allow 48 hours prescription refills. You may also request a prescription refill through the Patient Portal (see below for Portal information.) If you have concerns about your prescription, please call our office to speak to a clinician. Do not discontinue recommended medication or take a refill of medication that looks different than you are used to before calling our office. Scotland Nephrology utilizes the latest in electronic medical record technology, with prescriptions (except for controlled substances) sent electronically to your pharmacy of choice.

Technology

Scotland Nephrology utilizes the latest in electronic medical record technology, which provides faster test results and paperless physician orders and prescriptions sent electronically to your pharmacy of choice.

Diagnostic Laboratory Tests

For the convenience of our patients, we offer a variety of diagnostic laboratory tests in our office. This means you may not have to travel to a separate lab location, and your medical provider has faster access to the results of needed tests.

Your provider will get the results of tests completed in-house on the same day. Results for laboratory tests that cannot be completed in our office are returned within 72 hours. Patients may view their test results through the patient portal in four days. Please talk to our office staff about registering for the portal if you have not already done so.

Billing and Insurance

Scotland Nephrology accepts most major insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. We are happy to help you determine if we accept your plan before your visit. Please call our office at (910) 504-8500.

MyScotlandHealth Patient Portal

Scotland Health Care System has implemented a new tool in that patients will use to manage their health care records anywhere and at any time through a service called MyScotlandHealth. This new portal was acquired at the same time as the conversion to the new medical health records system, Epic.  MyScotlandHealth is a safe and secure online program offered by Scotland Health Care System that enables patients to manage their health care by accessing lab results, exchanging messages with your doctor or refilling prescriptions in one convenient location.

To receive your access code, you will visit myscotlandhealth.org and select sign up now. You will enter your information and will receive an activation email within 48 hours. After completing your registration, you will have access to many benefits MyScotlandHealth has to offer.
