Our team of physicians and nurses will evaluate your wound, your health and your medical history as well as your x-rays if you have them. Tests may be conducted to determine blood flow and tissue oxygenation as well as to indicate if there is any infection present. Together with your physician, we'll develop a treatment program based on our assessment of your individual needs. Our goal is to provide you with excellent care.

What to bring to your first visit:

  • Photo ID
  • Insurance card(s)
  • List of current medications including over-the-counter medications
  • List of allergies you have
  • Any pertinent records relating to your wound, such as lab work or related test results

Frequently asked questions:

  • How long will my visit last?
    Please allow approximately 1½ - 2 hours for your first office visit, so that we many perform a comprehensive evaluation and discuss your treatment options.

  • Do I need an appointment or can I just walk-in?
    It is always best to make an appointment.

  • How often do I see the physicians?
    Appointments are scheduled weekly for optimal healing. Your physicians have one 4-hour clinic per week. It is important that you keep your appointments and arrive on time. You are expected to see the same physician each week to main continuity of care and receive the excellent care you expect.

  • Should I continue my current wound care prior to my first scheduled visit?
    Yes. Also, if you are wearing an off-loading device, please wear it to your first appointment.

  • Will my other doctors be informed of my treatment?
    Yes, our physicians work collaboratively with all of your medical professionals. A comprehensive dictated note will be provided to your physician(s). Please bring phone, fax numbers, and address of any physicians for whom you wish to keep informed.

Your role in healing
Much of the success of your treatment depends on you. We count on you to follow directions carefully and watch your progress closely. You'll learn to care for your wound at home and how to protect yourself from further injuries. The staff at The Wound Healing Center is available to answer your questions and give you the support you need.
