Greg Wood, President and CEO of Scotland Health Care System announced David Pope has been selected as Scotland’s new Senior Vice President of Operations and Chief Operating Officer. David assumes his role on March 4, 2019.

Mr. Pope commented “I am very grateful to have the opportunity to join the Scotland team and look forward to moving to an area with a strong sense of community involvement. I have had numerous contacts with the Executive Team at Scotland and am eager to have a seamless transition into the family-oriented atmosphere there.”

Prior to accepting the position at Scotland, David most recently served as the interim CEO at St. Luke’s Hospital in Columbus, North Carolina. David originally joined Carolinas HealthCare System Blue Ridge in 2009, first serving as Associate Counsel and then moving into a Vice President role in 2013. Over the past five years, David has overseen many operational and clinical functions and completed several critical strategic projects.

David served as a judge advocate in the United States Marine Corps and was deployed to Iraq with 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marines. He is a North Carolina native and enjoys serving rural communities. He holds a master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill School of Public Health and a Juris Doctor degree from Wake Forest University School of Law. He and his wife, Jeannie, have 3 young daughters.
