How may I financially contribute to the Foundation?
The Foundation accepts cash, checks, securities, bequest, planned gifts and credit cards. Scotland Health Care System employees can also make a gift with payroll deduction or PTO. (PTO pledges can be made throughout the year, with the deductions being made twice a year, once in March and August. Gifts of PTO have taxes and retirement withheld before the gift goes to the Foundation. For general employee donations to the Foundation, payroll deductions begin immediately.)
How do I contribute to the Foundation in other ways?
Volunteering your time and talents at special events such as FUNd Run-4-Life, Putting on the Ritz, Women's and Men's Health Event, and any other events sponsored by the Foundation. You may fill out the Volunteer Questionnaire form. When you click submit it will be automatically emailed to the Foundation staff.
How is my gift tax deductible?
Yes, Scotland Memorial Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization therefore any contributions made financially or in-kind are tax deductible to the full extent provided by law. You will receive a thank you letter at the end of each year with your yearly contribution total. Please keep this letter for your tax records. Please consult a tax professional.
How do I become a member of the Highland Society?
The Highland Society was established in 2002 to thank and recognize those individuals, businesses and organizations that make contributions of $1,000 or more to the Scotland Memorial Foundation in a calendar year. Contributions can be restricted to a specific fund or unrestricted. Years later we remain humbled by the individuals, businesses, and organizations who continue to generously give at this level each year.
How do I become a member of the SKYE Club?
The SKYE Club is a group of individuals, businesses and organizations who have given at least $25,000 a cumulative total since the year 2000. Though a contribution of $25,000 or more entitles you to lifetime membership in the Highland Society, many members of the prestigious SKYE Club continue to give generously on an annual basis.
How do I become a member of the Fulton-Tornow Society?
The Fulton-Tornow Society is a special group of people who have chosen to create a meaningful legacy by including Scotland Memorial Foundation in their wills, revocable trust or with other planned gifts. To become a member, review your Planned Giving options with your Financial Advisor. How are my dollars used?
Designated funds are distributed according to the guidelines of the fund. Unrestricted gifts go to assist the programs and services supported by the Foundation or wherever the need is the greatest as determined by Foundation staff and board members.
How do I designate funds to a specific area?
Accounts are set up for and directed to specific areas or funds. Some examples include, but are not limited too: Cardiovascular Center, Cancer Center, health education events, mammograms, PSAs, patient assistant funds, etc.
How do I apply a Foundation Scholarship?
The Foundation annually awards scholarships to high school seniors that reside in Scotland County or non-resident of Scotland County, who are dependent children of a Scotland Health Care System associate, who intend to pursue healthcare-related courses of study at a college or university and who have achieved at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. How do I apply for a Scotland Health Care sytem Internal Grant through the Foundation?
The Foundation Grants Program utilizes a portion of the Foundation’s investment funds. The purpose of these grants is to address the on-going need for new programs, new services and continued community outreach to benefit the citizens of Scotland Health Care System service area. The application is distributed to the Scotland Health Care System Leadership Team and other related parties. Any department Associate, Director or Vice President may submit the application to the Executive Director of the Scotland Memorial Foundation. Each application must be reviewed and signed by the respective departmental Vice President to ensure that the project is within the priority guidelines of the Scotland Health Care System.
